Description: Problems are derived through MHFD's planning process via a review of previously completed analyses, evaluations, and assessments; these include:Stream assessmentsHydrologic analysesHydraulic modeling and flood mappingGeomorphic assessments and fluvial hazard mappingVegetative community mapping and assessmentsCommunity values assessments and corridor studiesFrom each of these assessments, underlying observations and concerns are identified and the planner ultimately decides if these elevate to the level of a problem.Problems are categorized into the following three Problem Types:Flood Hazard – Problems associated with flood waters or fluvial (erosion) hazards that may pose safety or risk concerns related to people, property (structures, utilities, and infrastructure), and the environment today.Stream Conditions – Problems associated with a stream’s condition and its performance related to the Five Elements (hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, vegetation, and community values).
